Cross Cultural Communication in Redevelopment: A Cape Town Case Study
PubblicoCurrent informal settlement redevelopment strategies applied in Cape Town, South Africa, often result in a dismantled sense of community, wasting resources and leading to crime and other community problems. Focusing on community involvement, we established a co-researcher program to conduct in-depth research within Monwabisi Park through the existing Indlovu Project initiative of the Shaster Foundation. This program evolved over time, ultimately utilizing multimedia to perform surveys, interviews, and create a sustainable community forum in the form of a TV show. These efforts, vehicles for immersion in the community, allowed us to gain insight into citizens' visions of a successful redevelopment.
