The main goal of our project was to investigate current practices in the aquaculture industry in order to provide INCOPESCA with information concerning the production and the marketing of aquacultural products. We also provided recommendations to INCOPESCA regarding ways to properly handle fish to increase the quality of the product sold to the consumer. A higher quality product will result in a better tasting and safer product. This can lead to a higher rate of consumption providing health benefits to the consumer and promote sustainable development in Costa Rica.
