Number theory, sometimes described as the purest of all sciences, is often perceived as little more than an intellectual pursuit of mainly aesthetic value, with no relevance to the applications and advancement of human society. Presented is an argument with concrete examples to dissuade this faulty line of reasoning and convince the reader to obtain a more reasonable perspective on the value of number theory in real world applications.
