U.S. immigration and refugee policy has been one of openness, punctuated by periods of restriction. During this technological age, immigrants need special skills in order to gain employment and other benefits in the United States. The project examines the refugee process to the United States. Refugees from four countries, Liberia, Russia, Kosovo and Bosnia, are considered in the study. We examine reasons for seeking asylum to the United States and how resettlement agencies facilitate the integration of refugees into U.S. society.
