PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerObesity rates in America are high and weight loss is a concern. Many Americans turn to commercial diets and other weight loss options to lose weight. This project studies the efficacy of commercial diets, and America's attitude towards nutritional labeling and healthy eating campaigns using surveys. It was found that WPI students' dietary habits are not affected by nutritional labeling, and their caloric intake is above the FDA guidelines. Also, only a small percentage of the local community reads nutritional labels. It was found that generally, low carbohydrate diets result in quicker weight loss compared to low fat diets.WPI can make several improvements such as healthier vending machines, breakfast options, and reducing availability of soda.
