open in viewerThis project analyzed La Esperanza, a 500-acre property of abandoned land in Ponce, Puerto Rico to determine how to implement hunting, fishing and passive recreation within a manageable reserve. The team worked with the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DNER) to examine how to include these different activities simultaneously. After various methods, the team developed a set of recommendations for the DNER. The team proposed creating new trails, boardwalks, observation towers, and infrastructure for La Esperanza along with a breakdown for the location of each activity on the land. The team was able to assess the locals' opinions, through questionnaire interviews, to suggest a community involved recommendation plan to the DNER.
