This work aims to discuss the technology and availability of various alternatives to conventional gasoline vehicles. Hybrid, electric, fuel cell, natural gas, LPG, diesel and methanol vehicles are discussed, with particular emphasis on hybrid, electric, natural gas and LPG vehicles. Economic, environmental and technological aspects are considered in studying the effects, both good and bad, of further adopt of alternative fuel vehicles by the American public.
