The Beecology Project tracks pollinator populations using a webapp where citizen scientists can upload and submit videos of bumblebee-flower observations and identify the bumblebee and flower species. We extended the Beecology database, server, and webapp to include butterfly-flower observations. We developed a novel method for manually identifying butterfly species and added 120 butterfly species to the database. We also added functionality for automated butterfly and flower identification using the iNaturalist’s computer vision API.
