Air Emission Control from Cannabis Processing

open in viewerThe recreational cannabis industry has experienced tremendous growth. The industry's environmental and public health impacts are still largely unknown, which presents new opportunities for innovative research. Our research aims to better understand the lifecycle of pesticides in hemp after the extraction process. We utilized gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to analyze cannabinoids and pesticides within our samples. From experimentation, we found that our extraction process was able to extract cannabinoids successfully. Additionally, inert ingredients from the pesticide samples were detected from the GC-MS data. Recommendations were proposed to promote high extraction yields and precise analysis, as well as suggest further areas of research.
