The modified hydrophobic zeolites have the potential to improve the efficiency of high temperature liquid phase reactions. Zeolite Y was coated with OTS, HTS, and ETS to explore how different alkyl chain lengths affect the zeolite. Tests were performed to characterize the zeolites, including FTIR, TGA, and nitrogen sorption. Sorption tests using hexanol and cyclohexanol measured the capacity of the zeolites. Diffusion coefficients were calculated for each target molecule in the zeolites. Results showed that the chain length of the coatings did not affect the rate of diffusion but did affect the uptake of the target compounds. %9 Major Qualifying Project %~ Digital WPI %W WPI
