This project involves the proposal of a pedestrian mall on Main Street as part of the revitalization of downtown Worcester. A number of pedestrian areas in other cities were evaluated. City officials and merchants on Main Street were interviewed. A survey of students at WPI and Clark was done. A proposal for a detailed master plan was developed. It was concluded that a pedestrian mall has a reasonable chance to be successful if supported by the people of Worcester, the media, and the city management.
