Measuring changes in bioavailability of artemisinin: in combination with flavonoids, phenolic acids, and monoterpene found in Artemisia annua
ÖffentlichHerunterladbarer Inhalt
open in viewerArtemisinin, a potent antimalarial found in Artemisia annua, is currently used in combination with other antimalarial drugs (ACTs), mainly against Plasmodium parasites. Ingestion of A. annua dried leaves is more efficacious than ACT, possibly due to increased bioavailability of artemisinin. This project used a Caco-2 intestinal model to perform experiments showing the effects of specific phytochemicals on artemisinin transport. Artemisinin transport across Caco-2 monolayers varied with artemisinin concentration.
