Understanding the Impacts of PFAS in Private Drinking Water Wells in MA
Público DepositedConteúdo disponível para baixar
open in viewerAcross the US there is a widespread problem of PFAS contamination in well water. In Massachusetts, many private wells are unregulated so it is up to local Boards of Health (BOHs) and well owners to mitigate the impact of PFAS on private well owners. The goal of this project is to help mitigate PFAS impact via recommendations for updating the model bylaw for private wells and to spread awareness via educational materials. For our research we conducted semi-structured interviews, two surveys for the general public and BOH agents, and performed content analysis on our background research and relevant literature. To help address the concern, we recommend the implementation of a database for well testing results, training for BOH agents, and additional educational materials.
