Safety audit of the intersection of Routes 140 and 108 in Canton, Maine

Public

A safety audit was performed on the intersection of Routes 108 and 140 in Canton, Maine. Traffic studies that were conducted include volume counts, turning movement, crash data analysis, speed and sight distance studies. The problems found were speeding, sight distance problems and crashes due to failure to yield. Alternatives considered included rumble strips, warning signs and geometric changes. Our recommendation was to install an intersection beacon and add police enforcement to address these safety issues.
