Design and control of a Lorentz force system
PublicThis project involved the redesign of a microscale Lorentz force system that uses the Lorentz force to propel a miniature cart along two conductive copper rails in an applied magnetic field. The dynamic modeling, the control methodology and its implementation, as well as experimental procedures are presented. Calibration of two proximity sensors was performed and the cart-rails' friction coefficient was obtained using a manual control technique. A lighter cart allowed limited controllable movement via a proportional derivative controller.
