Cost analysis for scale-up production of tissue plasminogen activator

Public

This Major Qualifying Project determined that it would be financially beneficial to expand the laboratory scale system of protein purification utilizing electroextractive separation to an industrial size process. Research was conducted to determine the cost of the product using an existing similar process of separating the blood clot dissolving agent, tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), from E. coli bacteria cells. In addition, procedures of how to effectively market such a product were addressed.
