An expression pattern study of mig-10, a gene required for nervous system development in C. elegans

The nematode, Caenorhabditis elegans, was used to study the function of genes involved in neurological development. The gene mig-10 is necessary for IL2 neurons to properly connect to the worm's brain. Using PCR, constructs were made containing various segments of the mig-10 gene and GFP (Green Fluorescent Protein) to study the mig-10 promoter::GFP and MIG-10 protein expression patterns. A transgenic strain to study mig-10 promoter::GFP expression was obtained and initially characterized. One putative line was generated using mig-10::GFP rescuing constructs.
