However, there have been questions about the success and popularity of the systems in the region. We evaluated whether using a small scale constructed wetland can be a reliable option for decentralized household wastewater treatment in Southern Israel. Our study was focused on household-scale systems and our results reflect that scale. We assessed a small-scale constructed wetland model at Kibbutz Lotan through theoretical water intake calculations, field observations, and qualitative testing.
