Analysis of Fire Hazards Associated with the VacTrain Design
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerA vacuum train (VacTrain) refers to the concept of a high speed transportation system which consists of a magnetically levitated train (Maglev) that travels in an evacuated tunnel. Several studies have been conducted on the existent magnetic levitation train and its fire safety aspects. However, no research exists for the fire hazards in the vacuum train itself. This project analyzes the fire safety characteristics of systems closely related to the VacTrain and its environment in order to predict its fire hazards. Based on these findings, the most efficient suppression systems and evacuation techniques were proposed.
