INHIBITION OF S. EPIDERMIDIS ADHESION USING SELF-ASSEMBLED MONOLAYERS
ÖffentlichHerunterladbarer Inhalt
open in viewerThe primary goal of this project was to investigate the adhesion and viability of Staphylococcus epidermidis, a clinical isolate, on chemically modified gold surfaces known as self assembled monolayers (SAMs). The presence and viability of bacteria on the substrates were verified using dyes that distinguish between live and dead bacterial cells. The results demonstrate that SAMs can be a useful part of biomaterial design, if the goal is to develop materials that resist the retention and viability of S. epidermidis.
