Development Toward the Synthesis of New Pharmacophores

open in viewerThe concerted [3+2] ylide-alkene photocyclization proceeds through trans-fused ylide intermediates. This reaction has been demonstrated to produce multicyclic heterocycles with up to six chiral centers in excellent yields from simple starting materials. This reaction can be used to develop novel compounds toward the discovery of new pharmacophores. Developments toward an asymmetric variant of this reaction have been undertaken.
