Creating an Educational Program to Promote Sustainable Water Use in Baan Yang

open in viewerIn the village of Baan Yang, a sudden shift away from opium cultivation left farmers practicing unsustainable techniques to grow food. Residents are aware of the ecological impacts, but tradition and socioeconomic barriers prevent them from transitioning to new, sustainable techniques. Our project focuses on creating an educational program for the Baan Yang School to introduce village students about their impact on the surrounding environment, along with educating them about water quality and conservation. The ultimate goal of our educational program is to promote sustainable farming techniques by instilling a passion for the environment in the younger generation.
