The western -- the myth behind twentieth century America

Öffentlich

The Western movie was more than just a popular film genre. The Western created a mythic image of America that not only helped tell the American story, but also provided a medium to challenge political and social norms. The myth would eventually become so ingrained in American society that it would help dictate American foreign policy and spur a major revisionist movement, leading to the Westerns' own downfall. Understanding the Western is understanding America in the twentieth century.
