Proton precession magnetometer

This project describes the design and construction of a proton precession magnetometer that can be used to measure the strength of the Earth's magnetic field. The design of this magnetometer is based on the theory that protons in hydrogen atoms spin under a magnetic field. When a stronger magnetic field is applied, the protons align themselves with the new field. When this field is removed, the Earth's magnetic field causes the protons to precess and induce a signal at the resonance frequency. This signal can be amplified and then be used to calculate the exact strength of the Earth's magnetic field in that area.
