open in viewerFor Australia to maintain its flourishing economy and international competitiveness, more of its youth must pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Our project aimed to increase student interest in STEM by creating two activities for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Science Bootcamp program. These activities, a build-your-own electrocardiogram (ECG) and a spacecraft prototyping project, will provide students with a four hour building and testing experience. These activities were informed by our research into science enrichment programs, by our analysis of past Bootcamp assessment data, and by an iterative development process.
