Sintering of barium titanate nanopowder

Public

This Major Qualifying Project was conducted in cooperation with CeraNova Corporation who is interested in studying the effects that the fine particle size of BaTiO nanopowder has on the final properties of the sintered ceramic. Dispersed and undispersed powder was formed into pellets, measured for green density and sintered at various times and temperatures. The products were tested for their final density, hardness, and dielectric properties as they related to grain growth during sintering. Under the processing conditions used, samples displayed abnormal grain growth.
