Market forces and green policy

Public

The project examines interrelationships between a society's ability to protect its natural environment and the economic freedoms the society enjoys. Free markets correlate positively with surplus generation, which positively correlates with the degree to which the society can achieve ecological sustainability. Cuba is used as an illustration of the ways in which economic regulation both cripples a society's ability to take steps necessary to preserve its natural environment, and prevents the emergence of a genuine cultural commitment to environmental action.
