Improving Medical Research Data Management
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerMedical research is instrumental to the development of new treatments and procedures to remedy human illness. UniversitätsSpital - Zürich, in Zürich, Switzerland, conducts many medical research projects concurrently, generating large amounts of data that must be managed well. Currently, there are two main obstacles to good data management at the hospital: the absence of standardized guidelines and researchers' lack of time to develop good practices. To improve data management at the hospital, the team evaluated current practices in place, identified issues impeding effective organization, and developed solutions. The project produced two main deliverables: best practice guidelines for managing medical research data and an application that generates standardized file names.
