This project presents a 5-week stock market simulation, with the purpose of gaining knowledge from hands-on experience with the stock market. During this project, an initial cash ($50102 and $50272) was hypothetically invested into the market in two different portfolios: the traditional “Buy and Hold” portfolio and a portfolio using more complex Options Trading. The simulation used real data extracted from the brokerage account platform Robinhood, from where five companies were picked for investment. The results of the simulation were positive for both the traditional Buy and Hold strategy and Options, with a positive return of 4.3% from the Buy and Hold, and 36% from the Options. Although the Buy and Hold return was positive, it did not beat the S&P 500 return of 5.3% over the same period of time. The results showed that the Options Trading had a much higher return than the Buy and Hold strategy, but the risk of losses is as high as the returns.
