310 TUESDAY November 6 Clear Ben Kough and I drove to Peoria today, Carl Strandlund come later. We spent the day at the Catipillar plant with L. J. Fletcher. One building is 1800 ft long by 540 feet wide. Met Eberland Chief Engineer and showed him layout of out Disc bearing. He thinks we should use or rather try a cork seal in place of felt and use springs (3) to keep it tight against and wear Possible to try rawhide too. Met with J.D. Fletcher, Everson, Hendrickson, and export men. Decided to build a heavier disc plow with 30" discs or 28" - 5-6 10" cut. and try to have it ready early in January. The Catipillar plant is both huge and modern. The Engineering Building is new and air conditioned. I seem to be one of the few who voted the Republican ticket today from the way the Democrats piled up the votes.
