Every one is nearly exhausted. In evening the heat broke by a storm. We need rain very badly but unfortunately did not get any. The Geo. Whites & son & daughter here for dinner. Also Elise's mother too. The Whites are from Brownsville. [Newspaper article: June 1931 heat/weather] Post & Gatty arrived in New York this evening on their return from a flight around the world in less than 9 days. We heard the fliers talk over the radio.
