Took taxi to EDGEWATER BEACH HOTEL. I attended an all day session of the Farm Equipemnt Institute in morning address byt W.L. Clark President H.L. Dempeter, Chairman Executive Committee and "The Economic Situation" by Dr. Virgil Jordan President National Industrial conference board N.Y.C. Dr Jordan predicts in 4 to 5 years the worst depression this generation has ever seen. It is horrible to contemplate what he pictures. In afternoon 3 talks, and interesting on was by Chris L. Christenson Dean College of Agriculture Wisconsic. On "What the Farmer expects of the Machinery Industry------ We walked out by the lake, the hotel has a fine beach. In evening we all went in costume, men in overalls and women in pinafores to The Threserman's Supper. (buffet) 250 - and later to the Harvest Frolic in the Ball Room where a very elaborate floor show was held. [Headlines: Chicago Daily News; War News]
