Buick 30202 123 month 430 year to date Pontiac 20088 183 month 768 1198 Friday, March 1, 1940 In afternoon went over proposed "John Deere" lettering with Charley Wiman and Charley Stone. They both liked the new lettering of Dreyfus, and felt it OK to go ahead with when factories agree. The trade mark I suggested as like Feb 26th sketch has not entirely satisfied Charley Wiman for he is loath to leave off "Moline Ill" May suggest to Dreyfuss to have 2 types, one with "Moline Ill" and one with (Quality Farm Equipment) They both saw grass sileage machines as far as they have progressed. They feel we are doing something that looks promising. ---------------------------- Sumner Welles of the State Department is in Germany to see Hitler and find out if any peace is possible. He is making the rounds of Europe, but it is feared without much chance of success.
