TO THE PUBLIC The Peoples Savings Bank & Trust Company and Deere & Co, each acting by authority of it's Board of Directors make this statement. 1. The depositors of the bank have been protected in full of the defalcations disclosed by the current examination. This restoration is satisfactory and has been approved by Oscar Nelson, State Auditor in charge of banks. It has been made possible by the action of the Board of the bank, the larger stockholders and by Deere & Co. 2. Most of this shortage has occured within the last few months and involves not only Mr Shallberg, but two other employees of the bank. These employees are now under arrest. It is determined that the guilty persons shall not escape. 3. The confidence of the depositors is greatly appreciated. Opening Saturday night in face of this startling announcement only relatively small withdrawls were made. Scarsely more than have occured in normal times. Peoples Savings Bank & Trust Co By G.W.
