Tuesday, November 2, 1937 Rain Clear Along talk with Charley Wiman this morning. he feels very strongly that I am "tops" in experimental work and wishes some way could be worked out for me to take a complete implement and work it out. He feels Allis Chalmers is getting ahead too fast in tractors& small combines. He realizes that my patent efforts on power lift etc place us where we are today in the matter of collecting royalties etc. He is worried about experimental work. in that we have not enough men with vision. I am to try to get more talent if I can find it. I told him with our system of decentralized control I was up against it to butt in. I can head committees and get work done that way. He said he did not want to have me side tracked in any way. Elise and I went to a dinner at the Websters. Ottes, Rosboroughs, Lindens, Cramptons, Harry Getz & Mrs Ainsworth.
