=FRIDAY JAN. 7, 1949 Received a letter today from Dr C.H. Dencher dated Dec 28. He sent me the stamps on the two preceeding pages. He has this to say about Hans Sack [German passage from letter] Which translated = "Unfortunately I must send you very sad news. A few days ago we recieved the news that Dr Sack had been arrrested by the Russians, and complaint was made that in search of his house catalogs of American films (also of your firm were found) Such is enough today in the Russian Zone to lose your fortune and freedom. We were very much affected by this news , and hope that as you Dr Sack whom all of us ^ esteem very highly, will be spared being sent to Germ Russia and can return to his own family. [Stamps: Air mail, Berlin.] Dr Dencher also wrote he was sent a copy of a "Book about the Practical [illegible] of the Soil" by [illegible], to me and one to Herman Altgelt. [Stamps: postage stamps]
