58 THURSDAY February 27 Clear/Cloudy Potatoes are coming up well and are about 12" high. I went up to San Antonio and saw King & [ May ?] We are to try out 3 row cultivator in 6 foot rows of tomatoes Saturday at Rio Hondo. I talked with W.H. Winnett. Route 2 San Benito. He has 2 std. tread G.P. and likes it. But he raises garden truck and wants a lister attachment for 34-36-38 inch rows. He likes John Deere better however hesays [?? tractor ?] I told him we might have something to send him experimentally later. He wants it. King said that planters were giving him much trouble with cotton [?] Y4630 andpinion Y4673] do not mesh properly and some wear out. Also arranged that Everett & Carlson are to go to San Benito & Harlingen tosort over the #192 & #22 bearings and to return to Moline any parts that can be used and scrap the rest. We to furnish new bearings for the differential price of about $338 between #23 & #[?] & #22 legs. It will not pay to fix these here as it costs 250 per bearing to change over. Also those who have last years cultivators want to change. 1man partucularly is much put out about. Also they want the Cuban Cultivator, and sweep attachment for #3 orchard cultivator larger than what we now have. Tom Dunn &Esther Callahan [?] asked us for dinner to the Casa Garden. Billy seems so much better, almost above normal. Elise still under the weather. Saw ≈Disraili
