Friday, July 31, 1931 Clear/Cloudy Left the Chateau at 9 and frove to Kent House at Montmorency Falls. A most attractive hotel with many flower gardens. The falls are 2275 feet high Then to Saint Anne de Beaupré. The new cathedral is nearly finished, is 325 feet long inside. People were there by the thousand. Many going up the Sacred steps on their knees. One woman I overheard saying "Do you think I'd come to Quebec and not go up them steps". This place is hard to understand. Then we drove to St Simeon over mountains getting up 1500 ftbad curves &grades. The views towards the Laurentians and the St. Lawrence magnificent. We waited for the ferry 21/2 hrs. till 730. We saw the 'Lady Grey" with the King & Queen of Siam on board pass by. We crossed the river by ferry 1¼ hrs. on the River de Longe to River de Loup. Quite a time getting our car off the ferry the clearance almost nothing and grade very steep. Spent night at "Le Manoirs" 116 miles.
