Tuesday, August 4, 1931 Clear/Cloudy Left Campbellton at 830 in a fog which was with us most of the way to Bathurst 70 miles along the Bay of Charleaux. Then to Newcastle. Frederickton and to St Johns 290 miles reaching herer at 5 or 6 Atlantic Daylight Saving time. The country we came through is very sparsely settled, town about 20 miles apart. so signs of tourists here yet. All seems to be woodland fir trees & white birches. Some of the roads are rather loose gravel. St. John is spread out in an interesting way. Tides rise & fall 25 feet so boats are often left high & dry. We are at the Admiral Beatty a good hotel. Walked to the water front & saw the "Saqueny" New Canadian Ericson and Princess Helene. - boat for Digby - It is warmer here. 65° in evening. [Letterhead: Admiral Beatty Hotel Saint John, N.B.]
