SUNDAY SEPT. 25 1949 Elise and I left Mildred Todd's at 530 this morning. We had breakfast at 7 at [Letterhead: Hotel Seneca] (good) We followed N0 5 through Batavea to N0 324 and then crossed the Grand Island bridges to Niagara Falls N.Y. We crossed to Canada there at 1030 Then the Queen Elizabeth High almost to Brantford. At Paris the Chrysler would not start. Fortunately we got a service man who found a wire to the starter broken He fixed us up in 50 minutes, but we had visions of being tied up in Paris over night. We crossed at Sarnia at 330 then drove to a distance of 454 miles for today. Had a fine dinner at El Rancho 2 miles down on route 10 [Letterhead: The Elms Motel] $700 per night, twin beds bath & shower A fine place
