SATURDAY JAN. 8, 1949 Kate and Amy telephoned this evening. Mother has rallied and has talked with Amy. They have a 12 hour day nurse and an 8 hour night nurse so Kate has had two nights sleep. Amy is going back to Newark in a day or two to get the house straightened out for Evarts and then will go to Worcester again. Both Amy and Kate did not think we should come on now, they will telephone when the time comes that we should. Blackhawk hike in afternoon over Forest Preserve near Hampton. About 70 on hike. the thermometer about 50° so it was delightful. A dinner at the Outing Club given by the Harold Bechtels, Dr Paul Barton, & Brady's. 275 there.
