Saturday January 8, 1938 Zero - Black Hawk hike this afternoon. 38 there. Col. and Mrs. Ramsey went with Elise and me. The hike started a mile or more below the Hennepin Canal's discharge into the Mississippi. The hike was on Kickapoo Creekand back thru the woods. We did not seem to feel the cold altho the temperature was about 10°. Am reading Northwest Passage with considerable interest.
