Public DepositedWednesday, January 24, 1940 [Letterhead: The University of Chicago Nursery School 5740-50 Woodlawn Avenue Chicago Illinois] Reached Eaglewood at 7:45. Had breakfast at International House with Lee& Bill Cade. Then I walked over to nursery school with Lee and saw the fireplace and decorations she has made. Her drawings are splendid. It was interesting to see the little tots arrive and have the doctor look at their throats and hands. The mothers have a great admiration for Lee and I was a very proud father watching her handle the children so nicely. I changed G.E. exposure meter for 715 Weston At 10 attended a meeting at Palmer House of 26 representatives of Implement& rubbercompanies. Thetire companies are anxious to 1. Mop up as many sizes of tires as are not really needed. 2. To keep from introducing new sizes unless good engineering makes them needed. 10 years ago the same program was applied to truck tires and standards set. 90% of tractor tires are now wide base and this is headed towards 100%. The tractor tires should be capable of standardization easier than implements. W.C. MC Farlane of M. M. acted as chairman, and [W.L. Finger?] ofRubber association had the real charge of meeting. Later a committee consisting of Jackson Firestone [Newman?]Goodrich and Wilson Goodyear allVice Presidents Davies Case - Fridden A.C. Adams M.H. Eggar Oliver [can't read] M.M. IHC? Deere were to meet Feb 8 at Palmer House . W. L. [Finger?] Chairman. Took 155 P.M. Rocket. Annual meeting of church this morning. [Insert - Rock Island Rocket]
