Public DepositedMONDAY NOVEMBER 10 1947 First snowstorm of the season today. Vote on Air Port today passed 2 to 1 4145 to 2153 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Leipzig Oct. 7, '47 My Dear nonored Mrs Brown Fourteen days ago your dear package came into our hands. You cannot imagine how happy we all are over it. As my husband came home with your two packages, he was greeted like Santa Claus, so great was the wonder and joy. It is too dear of you sending so much. Every little thing was so welcome for nothing of it can be bought here. Especially nice was the fine soap - now we can wash ourselves again and all the children shine like the Martzipan pigs! But I cannot enumerate all the things separately - the letter could be endless. The CARE package was equally nice and helped the hungry stomachs of my children. Also we thank you and Mr Brown from our whole hearts for the understanding which was shown for us in our plight. You so kindly asked what we need most. The answer is difficult. Especially difficult is the nourishment at the beginning of a bad winter. Also we badly lack clothings for my self and my 16 year old daughter, who like me is 1.73 meters tall. We both have big feet and wear the last and next to last sizes. The two bigest boys have the large- 1.88 meter tall If the soles are worn of not worn, plays no role with us nowadays. Since many years we have had no new socks. But I don't want to write another complaining letter. I am happy and thankful that my husband and my five children are well and I believe in the hope that in 2 years things must go better and our situation will change. It cannot remain as it is now. Amelia Leoring The address of my sister in law is changed. It is now Berlin - [Zelkendorf Sophine Chrr Cotter strasse 36?] This address is safer than our address in Zeipzig. I hope that you, dear Mrs Brown could read my letter easily. I have given my pledge to write in German My husband will himself write to Mr Brown. I beg you to great lives for me and thank him heartily for his [self & fulness.?]
