Tuesday, July 7, 1931 Clear Drove to Waterloo taking White & Paradise. a long day there. In field in morning with Allis Chalmers, Bradley, Farmall, & G.P. wide tread. Allis Chalmers view poor. Steer hard. Cultivator can be set in to 40" only. Bradley steer good, view good. Miserable cultivator 42" rows only. Farmall view fine. Steer to me is rather rough and jerky. McCormick showed us a modified model of Wide tread G.P. in which the view was wonderfully improved. The fuel tank was tapered so as not to interfere with the eye from tractor seat. Seat raised & brought forward to help get overpully. Steer put on top of tractor. Air cleaner, muffler etc taken off the outside and out of the line of vision. His idea is not to make any more wide tread tractors unless of new design. We went over new design too. They have gotten along pretty well with a new lay out. They agreed to send us a drawing so we can make a full sized model in wood of under frame to see how our cultivator will fit. Wiman, Head, Rowland, McCormick, Paradise, White, Worthington present. Tractor Co not inclined to stand behind power lifts when over loaded. I said we would not build 4 row cultivators if that responsibility is over and our lift cant be brought down.
