Public DepositedSunday, August 2, 1931 Clear A gorgeous day in every way. We left Mantane at 8 and drove 260 miles to Peicé. The people all seem to go to church and we could see many on foot and many driving horses. Very few have automobiles. The church bells & chimes sounded very peaceful. The smell of the sea is ever present. Potatoes grow to the waters edge. The river is salt. Many fishermen and a few farmers a sturdy lot. At Mont Louis the cliffs were very high as we skirted the shore also at Ste Anne de Monte. At other places we drove up mountains terrific grades & curves. Many vistas of small villages perched by the sea. We had wonderful views all day long. It is cool the air is bracing. We ate lunch at "Noah's Ark" at Petite Madelyne. We were to stop at Gaspé but the Baker Hotel was impossible so we crossed the ferry and drove to Percé. Arrived 730. Stayed at the Percé Rock House. [Letterhead: "PERCÉ ROCK HOUSE]
