321 November 17 SATURDAY Clear/Rain Black hawk hike in afternoon George MacKay going with Elise and me. We went thru Colona and several miles before starting the hike. We ended at the Engel Farm on the banks of the Rock River. It was a beautiful day and a fine hike . 82 there. Harry Getz and John Hauberg too. George Mackay seemed to enjoy it. When I happened to look in back to see Who I knew, when it dawned on me That the smile was surely meant for another For in back of me must have sat her mother For she had the same beeked nose and prominent chin. Now I know for whom the smile had been!
