Saturday, August 20, 1941 Clear [Headlines:Boston Herald;War news] Last night Elise had a bad chill after going to bed which lasted a long time and made her feel miserably. She slept till nearly 11 this morning. [Drawing: Cranberries] I got Bill at noon at Fort Devens, he can be away till Mondy night. We are so glad he can have this week end. I had a fine walk with Alex & Richard We walked near Houghtons Cranberry bog and saw a lont of fringed gentians a rare sight. A4 milewalk. I enjoy walking with these two ever so much. The Chandler Bullocks had Elise & me for dinner also Jim & Sarah Thayer. [Drawing: Fringed Gentian] Later we went to the dance at Bagg Hall. Bill went to the Summit House for dinner with the younger group and then to the dance. Elise is feeling herself again. [Headlines: Evening Gazette; War news]
