Public DepositedWednesday, August 6, 1941 Clear [Headlines:Boston Daily Globe; War news] This morning walked with Richard Gregory and Alden Beaman on the Crow Hill Trail. Elise had Mrs Whitney (Harry) Mrs Warren Whitney, Mrs Hobbs Mrs Bigelow, Mrs Needham, Mrs EVans & Mrs Beaman for bridge. I went to Worcester and brought mother up to spend a few days with us. We looked at radios for mother. Elise and I went to Fort Devens to see Bill reaching him at 615. Bill said about 150 or most of those arriving at Devens with him were sent to Camp Bragg North Carolina in the Field Artillery this afternoon. He said his nam was called to go and he packed allhis belongings before he learned that his name had been scratched. So it seems as thó Elise's & my visit may result in some nearer camp. That is our visit to Col. Smith. Bill felt rather discouraged and not very cheerful. It is tremendous change and certainly not an easy one. My heart goes out to Bill. Elise & I know he will do the right thing. [Headlines: Evening Gazette; War news]
