Cold Tuesday, May 14, 1940 Bulletins in news paper office window today. ~BERLIN~ THE NEXT 48 HOURS IS EXPECTED TO BRING THE DECISIVE BATTLE BATTLE OF THE WAR BETWEEN THE MAIN GERMAN & ALLIED ARMIES ~PARIS~ FRENCH AUTHORITIES ADMITTED TODAY THAT THE CITY OF SEDAN 10 MILES WITHIN FRANCE IN THE MARGINOT LINE NEAR THE BELGIAN BORDER HAS BEEN TAKEN BY THE GERMANS ~PARIS~ THE GREAT BATTLE OF THE WENT HAS BEGUN AS GERMAN TROOPS THRUST TOWARD THE NORTHERN BORDER OF FRANCE LONDON BRITAIN PREPARED SPEEDILY TODAY TO MEET A GERMAN PARACHUTE TROOP ATTACK ON BRITISH ISLES Over radio in evening Holland has quit. They felt they could not combat Germany sucessfully and a needless number of innocent women and children's lives could be saved. and cities kept from destruction.
